PLANS to re-open Earlston’s former petrol station have been approved by Scottish Borders Council.
The Melrose Road filling station closed last year after Rutherford’s went into receivership.
A total of 25 jobs were lost with the closure of the station and adjoining car showroom.
But the Co-op stepped in with its own plans - to create a new supermarket on the site and retain the petrol pumps.
Plans for a new 500 square-metre retail outlet with car parking spaces for 26 vehicles and petrol pumps to the rear were passed last week.
