GALASHIELS Air Cadets have received a notable RAF accolade for their fundraising efforts.

The Cadets from 2180 (Galashiels) squadron were presented with “Flt Lt Marvin Bear” for achieving second place in the Edinburgh Lothians & Borders Royal Air Force association Branch Wings Appeal. They received the award from Grp Captain Hamish Reid RAF (Ret’d), when he visited the Squadron recently. In 2014, the Galashiels cadets raised almost £1,000 for the Wings Appeal, which was the second highest amount raised by an Air Cadet Squadron in the region. 1271 (Bathgate) Squadron raised slightly more than the Gala Team to win the Marvin Trophy.

The cadets have also enjoyed success on the rugby field recently winning the South East Scotland Wing Rugby 7s Trophy for the third time in a row.
