A GALASHIELS man has been ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work after admitting breaking into a Borders golf range and stealing the £30 contents.
Thirty four year old Barry Johnston of Channel Street also pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to breaking into a Portakabin at the Meadowfield Golf Range with intent to steal earlier this year.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said the sentence was a direct alternative to custody.
Johnston's co-accused Iain McCallum, who is 31, of Bannerfield Drive, Selkirk, has also admitted the offences and will be sentenced on August 17.
