A FLASHER wearing a black wig and skirt who exposed himself to schoolgirls is on the loose in the Borders.

Police have appealed for information following two incidents of indecent exposures in Selkirk on Wednesday, March 25.

The first incident happened on Montrose Place around 8pm when a group of young girls encountered a man acting strangely. He then exposed himself to them.

The second incident, which also happened around 8pm, took place in the grounds of Philiphaugh Community School when two 16-year-old girls witnessed a man exposing himself.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9inches tall, in his late fifties, with a skinny build. He was wearing a black top, black skirt and a black wig.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Inspector Michael Bennett said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and we intend to pursue all possible lines of enquiry to find the perpetrator.

“This was very distressing for the young women and we’re looking to speak to anyone who saw the exposures or the suspect, or who knows who he is, to come forward.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
