AN enthusiastic group of over 40 people, along with more than 30 Dandie Dinmont terriers, spent a fun filled day at The Haining, on Sunday (20th September) in an effort to help raise funds for special projects linked with the Dandie Dinmont’s history.

The event, was organised by Dandie Dinmont owners and enthusiasts, Kenny and Shona Allan, from Eyemouth.

The afternoon’s programme of events included a brief introduction and history of the house, a Dandie walk around the loch, a visit to the original kennels of Old Ginger (the first recorded Dandie, born at The Haining in 1842), and ended with several fun races where the dogs had the chance to compete in their different category.

Races were held in the Puppy Group; The Open Challenge; Veterans and Others and winners were presented with Old Ginger Trophies.

“We are delighted with the turnout for this event which allowed an opportunity for the dogs and owners to have fun, as well as to contribute funds to maintain this special link with The Haining. We look forward to developing this very special link in the future with more events.”

Some of the entrants had come all the way from Holland and presented a Dandie Dinmont flag to the Haining, it was accepted by Carol Byers, Events and Communications Manager, who said: “This strong link to Dandie Dinmont enthusiasts all over the world, has provided a huge amount of international awareness for The Haining, and we will fly the flag with pride at all future Dandie Dinmont events.”
