E STREET Band legend Garry Tallent ditch the stadiums with Bruce Springsteen last weekend for a night in Ettrickbridge.

The bass player from Detroit has just completed an epic tour of Australia and New Zealand with The Boss.

But the founding member of the E Street Band jumped on a plane earlier this month to embark on his own solo tour of the UK and Ireland.

Tallent, who is used to playing in front of 50,000 in stadiums across the globe, took centre stage at the 120-capacity Ettrickbridge Village Hall on Friday evening.

As well as playing a stunning set with his seven-piece band featuring Americana favourites, Fats Kaplan and Kristi Rose, Garry mingled with fans who had travelled from far and wide to take in the show.

One fan told us: "It is incredible to have someone like Garry Tallent playing here in the Borders."

Also on the Ettrickbridge bill was highly acclaimed Nashville singer-songwriter Kevin Montgomery, who has become regualr in the Ettrick Valley over the past decade.
