Amphetamine, like these pictured, were seized following the raid on a house in Selkirk.

THOUSANDS of pounds of illegal drugs were seized after police raided a house in Selkirk.

Officers found amphetamine with a street value of £3800 after being granted a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act to search the premises in the town's Buccleuch Road on Friday.

Approximately one kilo of Amphetamine was seized with an estimated value of £3800.

DCI Linda Little, of Lothian and Borders Police, said: "This operation is part of our ongoing response to serious and organised criminals who are causing harm in Scottish Borders communities.

"This sends a very clear message that we will continue to proactively target these individuals and disrupt their activities. We know who they are. We will keep going after them.

"We are working with partner agencies to support those individuals in the Scottish Borders who have a drugs problem to hopefully steer them away from harmful drug use.

"Our focus in terms of enforcement is on the people who are exploiting more vulnerable members of the community and supplying these drugs purely for financial gain.

"Recoveries such as this are only possible thanks to the information we receive from the public and I would continue to appeal for our communities to remain vigilant and report any suspected drug-related criminal activity to police immediately."

A 44-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply following the haul last week and was due to appear from custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday.
