SELKIRK High School students have been invited to take part in a training session, have tea, and then watch a match at Murrayfield - the home of Scottish rugby - next month.

The trip, which will take in the Edinburgh V Dragons game, has been organised by Edinburgh and Scotland star Chris Paterson, who kicked-off his career in Galashiels and has been mentoring them through the role-model programme Champions in Schools.

It places the country's top international athletes in the classroom to deliver a series of inspirational workshops on the topics of goal setting; fitness and nutrition, and winning attitudes.

Selkirk were delighted and excited to hear that Chris Paterson had been linked with the school. He is pictured visiting the secondary last month. The event was appreciated and enjoyed by all who met him.

Chris' second visit is planned for mid-March when he will be speaking students about fitness and nutrition.
