A SIX-A-SIDE football tournament organised in memory of a baby who tragically died aged just three months has raised more than 1000 for the Sick Kids Foundation, which supports the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

A total of seven teams took part in the Lucy Lambert Memorial Cup on the astroturf at Selkirk Rugby Club on Saturday.

Tom Lambert, who organised the event in memory of his neice, said: "A massive thank you to everyone involved in the charity day, from people playing in the tournament to everyone who donated and everyone who helped out.

"We had a great support not just from the Selkirk community but outwith, a lot of friends and family and friends of friends, and they made an absolutely brilliant day."

The family fun day, which included a raffle to win a Celtic strip signed by the squad which reached the final of the UEFA Cup in 2003, has so far raised 837 - in addition to a 500 donation from local energy supplier Spark Energy - with tickets to win a Rangers top signed by Nacho Novo still being sold.

The winning team in the competition, which was refereed by David McNeil, was Johnny's Invincibles. They lined up as follows: Jonathon Muir, Andrew Hutton, Liam Scott, Tom Lambert, Stuart Burns, Kevin Knox and Ewan MacLean.
