A BANNED biker who clocked up his fourth drink driving offence has been jailed for 10 weeks.

Michael Walsh was more than three times the legal limit when police spotted him mount a pavement on his motorcycle outside a fast food restaurant in his home town of Selkirk.

Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that when 36-year-old Walsh removed his helmet, police could immediately smell alcohol.

He also told officers he was disqualified from holding a licence and had no insurance.

Walsh of Muthag Street, pleaded guilty to having a breath/alcohol count of 110 microgrammes while riding a motorcycle in High Street, Selkirk, on September 19.

Sheriff Peter Paterson highlighted previous drink drive convictions in 2007, 2010 and 2013 and that Walsh had also been convicted of driving while disqualified.

He said: “I have no alternative but to impose a custodial sentence.” In addition to the jail sentence, Walsh was banned for five years.
