THE dad of Sean McKenna has spoken about Scotland’s other missing children, saying, ‘people can’t just disappear into thin air’.

Heartbroken James McKenna shared his empathies with other families suffering like his as the search for popular Coatbridge lad Sean continues.

The 24-year-old has been missing since Monday, October 10, and despite a high profile campaign to find him, there has been no other sightings.

Sean, who lives in Townhead’s Teviot Street, left a friend’s house in Derwent Drive at around 3am, and this is where the trail runs cold.

His disappearance is not the only case police are currently investigating.

Teenager Scott Diver, who vanished on Saturday, September 17, from his hometown Clydebank has been missing for more than a month.

Scott was last seen by his dad at the family home on Second Avenue at around 2.45pm.

Dunfermline RAF serviceman Corrie McKeague also vanished more than a month ago after a night out with colleagues.

The 23-year-old, who is a Senior Aircraftman in the RAF Regiment’s 2 Squadron, has not been seen since the early hours of September 24.

He was last seen in Bury St Edmunds on CCTV footage which shows him coming out of his favourite takeaway spot in Brentgovel Street at 1.20am, before sleeping in a doorway and leaving just after 3am.

James said: “It’s so heartbreaking for these families whose children go missing for no reason.

“Young boy Scott Diver, our Sean and the many others.”

He added: People can’t just disappear into thin air.

“There is always someone who knows something. The police have been doing a great job but they need help off the public as every little thing could be important.”

James then issued a plea, “Let’s get these young boys home to their families.”

This week, the campaign to find Sean stepped up a gear with his image shown to more than 60,000 fans at Parkhead on Wednesday.

It is just one of the many measures that have been taken in a bid to find Sean.

His family previously told the Evening Times that it is out of character for him to be out of touch for so long.

His dad James and mum Lorraine have been overwhelmed by the support of the public who have been doing their bit to find Sean.

Searches continue daily in the families hometown with a focus on Drumpellier Park.

Police in Lanarkshire also previously said the public are key to bringing Sean home.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Our officers are working hard to establish where Sean is. “Thank you for all the help you’ve given so far but we still need you to assist our officers by being the eyes and ears in the community.

“Let’s work together and #BringSeanHome.”

When Sean was last seen he is thought to have been wearing black tracksuit bottoms a dark jumper and black boots.

He is 6ft 2in, and he has a medium build with a tanned complexion.
