Sir, Michael Moore in last week’s Telegraph commented that his party’s showing at last week’s Euro elections, and in a local council ward, were very dissappointing.

I’ve got news for you Michael - you better get used to it and maybe put feelers out for a career change, for come the general election the Liberal Democrats will be wiped out the length and breadth of the country.

That, I’m afraid, is the price your party will pay for going into coalition with the Tories.

The people in the Borders, in particular, will not easily forget, nor forgive, the way they were deceived into voting for a Liberal Democrat in order to keep the Tories out, when all they ended up with in any case was a Tory government, propped up by you and your colleagues.

How on earth you thought you and your party would not suffer electorally as a consequence of this act of folly and betrayal is beyond me.

So I hope you, Nick and Vince, and all the rest of your colleagues, still think it was all worthwhile being seduced by all the trappings of ministerial office, as you now witness the total annihilation of your party as you quite rightly and justifiably suffer the wrath of the decent ordinary voters you took so much for granted.
