Sir, St Margaret’s RC Primary School held its annual Summer Fayre on Saturday, June 14.

Despite the weather not being as kind to us as it could have been we still managed to raise the amazing sum of £1056 – a great result for our school community.

On behalf of the Parent Council I would like to thank the following businesses and organisations: Kingsknowes Hotel, Harrow Inn, Tesco, Parrucchiere Hairdressers, Studio Hairdressers, The Kilt Shop, The Old Gala Club, Bon Marche, The Polish Shop, Stewart Noble Butchers, Advanced Signs, Peter and Matthew Croan and Joni’s Dog Grooming Studio.

I would also like to thank all the stall holders, raffle donators, the teachers and school staff, the hard working ladies in the kitchen and manning the barbeque. Also Limelight for providing and supervising the water slide (apologies for the wet children – but they had a great time!), and Mini Mags under 5s for organising a very competitive welly throw competition.

Thanks also to all the members of the Parent Council, especially Robert Fairburn for all his hard work, and also to Mrs Hardie for sending out our newsletters. And of course we would like to thank everyone who came along on the day to enjoy the fun!

On Monday, June 16 we held our Sports Day (after being rained off the previous Monday). It was a beautiful afternoon, and a huge thankyou goes to Adam’s Ices for coming along (in his 93rd year!) and providing us all with some much need refreshment. Parents, staff and children all enjoyed an ice-cream served up by Britain’s oldest ice-cream man!

Finally we would like to thank Disco Dave for giving the pupils a brilliant boogie at the end of term disco last week.

I am, etc.
