SIR, In relation to the suggestion in the September 24th edition of the Border Telegraph that the Town Hall in Jedburgh could be closed unless it is handed over to the Jedburgh Leisure Trust, I want to reassure your readers that there is absolutely no suggestion or proposal from the council to close the hall, now or in future.
There is a commitment from the council in fact to carry out various refurbishments to the hall within the next year at a cost of £40,000.
I am, etc.
Councillor Vicky Davidson Executive Member for Culture, Sport, Youth and Communities Scottish Borders Council
