OVER a weekend in October, Galashiels Academy student Hannah MacRae attended Rotary Challenge Enterprise, sponsored by Gala Rotary.
Hannah came along to the Club to tell members how she got on. Despite being quite nervous and feeling alone at the beginning, she soon mingled with others, helped by the ice breaker when she had to find out about others on the weekend.
There were motivational speakers, including the founder of Border Biscuits who has, through determination and motivation, created this international company from nothing and an RNLI volunteer who spoke of the methods they use to train new volunteers.
Practical skills in negotiation were learned in a practical session and each group had a project to design, cost and promote a new product with some interesting results!
Overall, Hannah told Rotarians that it had been an amazing experience where she made new friends and learned new skills.
