ALL four Borders teams crashed out of the William Hill Scottish Cup in the first round on Saturday.

Selkirk endured a 450-mile round trip only to collapse in the second half against Nairn County.

Jack Hay had given Steve Forrest's team an early lead against the Highland League side.

But the home side drew level before the break.

Doubles from Alan Pollock and Sam Urquhart gave Nairn a 5-1 victory.

Selkirk manager Steve Forrest said: "We lost two quick goals in the second half and we never recovered.

"We were very much in this at half time but it was a disappointing second half."

County boss Les Fridge said: “We were worthy winners.

“I had a wee go at them at half time and I thought we did really well in the second half and played some good football.

"We started to do things quicker and sharper and we upped the tempo a wee bit."

Ash Langford scored Coldstream's consolation as they also went down 5-1 against Spartans at Ainslie Park.

An Aaron Murrell's header deflected off Hagan Steele on 30 minutes to give the Lowland League side the lead.

Murrell grabbed the second of the afternoon minutes into the second half.

And the 18-year-old striker made sure of progress eight minutes later with a powerful shot into the net.

Langford pulled a goal back on the hour after good build up play from Des Sutherland.

But late goals from Robbie Ross and Eddie Malone gave Spartans a comfortable victory.

Linlithgow Rose overcame Gala Fairydean Rovers and the Netherdale 3G surface to reach round two.

The East Super League high-flyers scored early through Colin Strickland.

But they had to wait until the final minute for Tommy Coyne to make it 2-0.

Rose gaffer Dave McGlynn said: "We haven't even trained on 3G yet this season so the surface was a real leveller today.

"I don't think the surface suited us and I'm just pleased to win."

Huntly proved too hot for Hawick Royal Albert with David Booth scoring two of the visitors' three goals at Albert Park.
