BLESSED by beautiful September weather Gala Fairydean Rovers FC staged its 12 hour charity soccer marathon last weekend.
Over £500 was raised to be shared between two causes chosen by the club – Farm Nepal, a charity set up in the wake of the earth-quake that devastated Nepal back in April and the family of youth team coach Kieran Martin.
During his summer holiday in Spain Kieran fell seriously ill and required emergency care in the Intensive Care Unit of a Spanish hospital.
Youth games kicked off the day followed up by Walking Football and a game between Gala Rovers Legends and a mixed team of veterans, youngsters and girl footballers.
Youngsters from the town then kept the football going well into the evening.
The club would like to put on record our thanks for all those who participated and contributed to these two great causes.
