GALA celebrated the end of another successful season with its annual presentation night last week.

There were a number of highlights for the club, which won the Border 2020 Cup title again, and picked up their first Paterson-Davidson Cup against Yorkshire friends Settle.

The under 14s were edged out of the league and cup despite some decent performances.

Likewise the under 12s finished second in the Rowan Boland Cup behind winners Hawick, while the under 11s competed in a number of festival tournaments.

On the representative front, Charis Scott played for Scotland under 17s despite being just 13.

In the seniors, Sri Lankan Dinesh Tharanga won the Players Player and Player of the Season awards to mark his superb form with the ball – being the first Gala bowler to claim 50 wickets in a season since 1989 - as well as improved performance with bat and in field, having scored 328 runs and taken 11 catches.

Robbie Irvine won young player of the year as he continues to progress, with his batting in particular very impressive at stages in the season, while Jack Halls took home the all round of the season as he finished second top run scorer and wicket taker, as well as top catcher.

For the youngsters, Jamie Crooks was rewarded for his incredible form for the under 14s with top run scorer title. Crooks scored 249 runs in nine innings, but he was only out once.

Harris Rutherford took the top wicket taker award for under 14s with 13 victims, while Ben Ballantyne was most improved player.

Mac Rutherford won most improved for the under 11s.

There was also a special presentation to Davie Ormiston who was given his life membership award for his dedication to the club both on and off the field.
