ONE of the toughest races in the Borders is putting the region in the frame for some national exposure.

The Three Peaks Ultra, a 38-mile race through some of the region’s most spectacular scenery, will this year be filmed for The Adventure Show - BBC Scotland’s flagship outdoor events programme.

The route runs from Jedburgh over the Eildon Hills near Melrose and back along the St Cuthbert’s Way.

It is part of the Jedburgh Running Festival on Saturday, October 24, and has, along with the inaugural Three Peaks Relay Race, long since sold-out.

However, places are still available in the traditional 10k and half marathon races which are held on Sunday, October 25 - with many ultra runners having entered both days.

If you want to show your support, the ultra runners - who are bound by a ten hour time limit - leave Jedburgh at 8am and will pass through Maxton (from 9am), St Boswells (from 9.30am), Rhymers Stone (from 10.30am), Bowden (from 11am), and Newtown (from 11.30am) before retracing their steps to Jedburgh, with estimated times given in brackets.
