AS part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, Tweedbank Bowling Club will join forces with Borders Sport and Leisure on Sunday to host a free Indoor Bowls Open Day.

The Open Day at Tweedbank Bowling Centre aims to showcase the sport to potential new players of all ages.

And a few experienced hands want to demonstrate the benefits of this much-loved sport.

Ewan Jackson from Borders Sport and Leisure told the Border Telegraph: "Scottish winters are long and dark but indoor bowls at our fantastic Indoor Bowling Centre offers a great reason to get out, socialize and keep active during the winter months.

"The sport has a reputation as one for older members of the community, but there are lots of opportunities for younger participants as well, so we would like to encourage anyone who thinks they might like to give this popular sport a try to come along to the Open Day on Sunday.”

Beginners will be shown the basic skills and techniques of indoor bowling throughout the Open Day.

There will also be refreshments and the chance to win raffle prizes on the day.

And anyone hooked by drawing and guarding can benefit from a special membership offer.

The Tweedbank Bowling Centre Open Day is takes place from 11am until 4pm on Sunday, November 15 and is free of charge.
