SCOTTISH Rugby revealed it is saddened to learn of the death of former Scotland prop Jim Inglis. He passed away last Friday night aged 87.

Jim, known to all and sundry as “Basher”, gave a lifetime of service to Selkirk Rugby Club, both as a player and genial administrator.

It was fitting tribute that, alongside his wife Mary, Jim received the Spirit of Rugby Award from Scottish Rugby earlier this year.

Jim was capped against England at Murrayfield in 1952, having also represented the South of Scotland.

He served as President of the Selkirk club and the Border League and always gave a hearty welcome to supporters at Philiphaugh.

Scottish Rugby extended its sincere condolences to all his family and friends.
