Local sporting trusts net new facilities for Galashiels Golf Club

TWO sporting trusts have joined together to help tee off Galashiels Golf Club’s new practice net.

The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust and Clubsport Ettrick and Lauderdale both provided financial backing for the facility, which will be used to help coach the Ladhope club’s expanding junior section.

The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust provided £1,000 while Clubsport Ettrick and Lauderdale assisted with £1,300 for the net.

Galashiels Golf Club President Graham Forsyth said: “This project would not have been possible without the kind donations of Clubsport Ettrick and Lauderdale and the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust.

“I would like to thank both trusts for their kindness, the club members who have donated to the project and the greenkeeping staff who put a lot of hard work into ensuring the net was set up safely and securely.

“This will be an invaluable asset for the club going forward.

“Along with the practice area that has recently been developed, I truly hope our juniors will enjoy all that golf offers them. The enthusiasm of the coach and the parents is perfectly evident.

“We already have the backing of our committee, members and greenkeeping staff and there is a collective feeling throughout the club that a thriving junior section has to be successful.”

Junior coaching starts on Friday, April 22 with further information available from Scott Robertson by email at juniors@galashiels-golfclub.co.uk.
