TWEEDBANK THISTLE are set to kick off the Chris Doyle Festival this weekend in style with a fresh set of seven-a-side goals.

The new nets will make their debut this Saturday, May 21 and are funded by Clubsport Ettrick & Lauderdale. Contributions from the clubs annual Eildon Hill walk also went towards the cost.

With support from Live Borders, all the four-a-side and both seven- a-side pitches are now lined too.

The Chris Doyle festival marks the start of Tweedbank Fair week and has grown to become a major success over recent years.

All Tweedbank Thistle teams P1 to P7 will play at home in festivals/games against other local clubs with the theme for the day #funplayingfootbal and #letthemplay

There will also be a come and try taster session from 11.30am to 12.30pm for all primary school ages kids that can also be used to get there Olympic passports stamped.

Club Chairperson David Moffat told the Border Telegraph: “Our training area now looks amazing, like a proper football sports facility.

“We now have two seven-a-side pitches with fixed goals as well as the whole area lined. We have also recently had signs put up around the area with the clubs badge stating ‘pick up after their pet” to encourage the many dog walkers that use this area and surrounding woodland.

“We would like to thank Mark Forsyth and the other guys at Live Borders for backing the club and helping us grow.”
