A TRIO of Borderers who helped East Fife to the League Two championship have signed on for another season at Bayview.

Assistant Dougie Anderson was manager Gary Naysmith’s right-hand man as the Fifers claimed the title last month.

The area manager with Live Borders from Galashiels, has agreed terms to continue as assistant manager for 2016/17.

Also agreeing terms for a further season is the club’s chief scout Mark Forsyth, who is also from Galashiels.

And Earlston-based goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow has also signed a one-year extension as the club prepares for their League One campaign.

Anderson told us: “We are all delighted with how the season ended and it was a real achievement for the club to finish the season as champions.

“I’m delighted for my two Borders colleagues who have played a huge part in the success the club has had, Ryan is an excellent young goalkeeper who has a great future ahead.

“Mark’s work on scouting our opposition has played a crucial part in our preparation on how we set up for games and gave us a real edge.”

East Fife will face the likes of Alloa and Airdrie as they look for successive promotions through the leagues.

And preparations have already started for manager Naysmith and his assistant.

Dougie added: “We’re all looking forward now to taking on a new challenge in a higher division.

“The manager has a two-year plan and the hard work now starts on player recruitment for the season ahead.”

* Meanwhile, Galashiels goalkeeper Gregor Amos helped his Edinburgh City team become the first club in Scotland to ever play their way into the Scottish leagues.

Amos kept a clean sheet against East Stirlingshire in the 1-0 victory on Saturday.

While Edinburgh City are promoted to League Two, East Stirlingshire will play in next season's Lowland League against Gala Fairydean Rovers, Selkirk and Vale of Leithen.
