ROBBIE Irvine’s first five wicket haul completed a comfortable victory for Gala against previously unbeaten Edinburgh Accies.
Irvine’s five wickets for 14 runs ensured Accies were all out for 79, after Gala made an impressive 196 for 3.
Put into bat by the visitors, Gala’s innings started off badly with Rory Hawes attempted pull being well held by Kansara for three.
Jack Halls and Graeme Ormiston came together and struggled initially before sharing a 57 run partnership.
It ended when Kansara bowled Halls for 36 but that brought Ormiston (77 not out) and Duncan Millar (68) together, who had a superb 133 run partnership, with Millar run out from the last ball of the innings.
In response, the dangerous Cosh brothers started well, making 30 before Hawes picked up Andrew Cosh for 8 with a fine delivery which was edged to wicketkeeper Millar.
Wickets then fell at regular intervals, with Irvine to the fore, supported by Jack Halls (2 for 8) and a fine spell from Dean Moir whose spell of five overs for just nine runs went unrewarded.
