SCOTTISH sprint champion Cameron Tindle celebrated his 18th birthday with victory in the sun at Earlston on Saturday.

The 18-year-old came from the scratch mark to break the tape in the final of the Rhymer Construction and Robert Henderson Landscaping 90 metres at the Haugh.

But the Berwick teenager had to wait before the celebrations began after a photo-finish was required by the judges.

Tindle won the £450 purse as well as the trophy.

Selkirk's Craig Bruce, Corey Wilson of Hawick, Cameron Fisher of Jed, TLJT's Cameron Caldwell, Edinburgh veteran Graeme Armstrong, and Corstorphine's Craig Knowles were the other finalists.

There was joy for Gala's Gavin Maule who held off Ron Sutherland to win the Special 90 metres.

In the Youths Joey Brown from Chirnside claimed the A Group 90 metres from Molly Paterson of TLJT and Leithenburn's Sam Archibald.

Abby Munro from TLJT was triumphant in the B 90 metres. The 10-year-old held off the challenge from Imogen Lewis of Peebles and Kacey Taiit of TLJT to claim victory.

Struan Wells enjoyed his debut on the track by winning the A 200 metres. The 13-year-old from the Leithenburn club completed a memorable weekend by claiming the 90 metres, the 200 metres and the athlete of the games at Markinch the following day.

Molly Paterson of TLJT finished runner up at Earlston behind Wells with James Delaney of Hawick in third.

Samantha Dagg from TLJT broke the tape in the final of the B 200 metres from training partners Kacey Taitt and Fraser Rout.

Fraser Clyne produced a strong finish to take the Youths 800 metres for Teviotdale Harriers.

Long-time leader Daniel Ross of Chirnside claimed second from Scott Tindle of TLJT in third.

Moorfoot Craig Angus landed the Youths 1600 metres from Chirnside's Rory Williams and Fraser Clyne of Teviotdale.

Kirsty Falconer triumphed in the Confined 90 m sprint.

There was further success for Leithenburn Running Club at Markinch on Sunday. As well as the Wells double, Sam Archibald, Rianna Sterricks and Emma Currie finished second, third and fifth, respectively in the final of the 90 metres.

Leah Currie, Emma Currie and Lauren knightingale finsihed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the final of the Youths 400 metres.
