MAD Hibs fan Gary McCormack is hoping to score past his Hampden heroes when they come calling to Yarrow Park tomorrow (Tuesday).

The new Selkirk striker, who has scored six goals in three games for the Souters, hopes to add to his tally against Neil Lennon's team in the pre-season friendly.

McCormack, who reached the Scottish Cup final with Gretna a decade ago, admits this will be his team's biggest test of the pre-season. He said: "We are expecting a reasonably strong Hibernian team to come down.

"There is a real buzz around Hibs just now with them winning the Scottish Cup, but we'll be doing our best to beat them.

"We've won all our friendlies so far but this is a step up from the teams we've been playing. It will be tough but we're all looking forward to it."

Several of McCormack's new team-mates, including Jay Doyle and Phil Addison, came through the Hibs youth system as well as manager, Garry O'Connor, gaining legendary status during his two spells at the club.

And he's sure they will all be looking to remind the visitors of what they are missing.

Gary added: "There are strong connections between Selkirk and Hibs - we use their training ground as well.

"We know they'll be a good team but we're not bad ourselves and you can expect a good game."

The Easter Road club will parade the Scottish Cup ahead of the 7.30pm kick off.

Selkirk chairman Ross Anderson said: "We're delighted that Hibernian are coming down.

"There is a lot of shared history between the two clubs - most notably the Bobby Johnstone connection."
