TORWOODLEE'S young golfers are now able to perfect their swing thanks to new practice nets.

The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust provided £500 to the cost of the new facility, which will be used to develop the skills of the youngest members of the golf club situated on the edge of Galashiels.

Andy Lawrie, junior convener at Torwoodlee GC, said: "The nets are a great addition and will help our young members improve and therefore enjoy golf more. Thanks to the Trust for their support."

David Boland, Chairman of the Rowan Boland Trust, added: "Andy has put a lot of work into the junior section at Torwoodlee and we were delighted to support them."

Meanwhile, the Trust handed out grants to Gala Cricket Club's Scotland under 17s international Charis Scott (£300) and talented Galashiels footballer Charlie Green (£250) last month.
