RORY Hawes and Robbie Irvine lead Gala to a much-needed win against a depleted Edinburgh Accies side at New Field.

The pair claimed seven wickets between them to knock over ten man Accies for 80, before New Zealander Hawes lead the way with the bat scoring a quickfire 37 as Gala got home with seven wickets and more than 31 overs to spare.

Accies decided to bat but were soon in trouble as De Haan and Mann both departed to Irvine’s bowling.

S. Cosh went soon after to a clever slower ball from Robbie Pringle.

Dangerman Andrew Cosh was still at the crease but when Hawes bowled the Accies skipper for 21, Gala were on top.

They managed to remove the final five wickets for 30 runs, despite a spirited knock of 19 from Padmanbhan.

Hawes took 4 for 7 and Irvine 3 for 25, while Gala’s other bowlers also performed well in the Braw Lads’ best bowling performance this season.

In reply, Hawes and Kevin Gallagher got off to a brisk start before the latter was caught by Miller off Khanchi’s bowling for 14.

Despite losing Hawes (37) and Duncan Millar (14), Jack Halls and Finlay Rutherford saw the visitors home in the 19th over.
