CARDRONA athlete Ellie OHara made a winning return to competition at the weekend by claiming gold at the Scottish Championships Under 15 triple jump.

The 13-year-old, who already has the indoor title to her name, has missed almost the entire season due to a foot injury.

But the Peebles High pupil made a successful return to the track at Scottish Athletics Championships in Grangemouth.

Despite only resuming training a fortnight ago Ellie produced a terrific set of jumps over 10 metres.

And she claimed the gold medal with an outstanding 10.53 metres to also top the Scottish rankings.

Ellie, who is coached by Linda Nicholson, now heads down to the English Championships in Bedford to compete against the best triple jumpers in the UK.
