MARK Robertson made a return to Melrose with his Olympic silver medal on Saturday.
The Team GB hero was honoured at the club during a luncheon ahead of the game against Currie.
But the Great Britain and Scotland sevens player, who was given a Guard of Honour ahead of the kick-off, said he was unlikely to wear the Melrose jersey again.
“It is the first time that I had been back at a Melrose game and I hope that getting the medal will inspire the next generation of players to achieve something that they would really like to do,” he said.
“I would never say never about coming back, but I would like to finish my career playing sevens. I have not played 15s for a long time. I love the game and am a massive supporter of the sevens.”
“The Olympics was an awesome experience and totally different from any other rugby. The whole thing was tremendous.”
Robertson, son of internationalist Keith, said that he would have another few weeks off before playing again.
