FAIRYDEAN Rovers manager Steven Noble is calling for fans to roar his team into the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

The Gala gaffer has been buoyed by his team's last two wins over Preston Athletic and Heston Rovers.

But he admits Fraserburgh will be a much stiffer test for his team, having lost only one of their opening nine Highland League matches this season.

Noble hopes a vociferous home support will lift his team to glory. He said: "We need a big support to get behind us on Saturday.

"Fraserburgh will go into this as favourites and we know we'll have to raise our game if we want to get through."

The Highland League outfit have an impressive pedigree in the national cup competition having recently beaten Dalbeattie Star, Edinburgh City and Civil Service Strollers as well as Division Two side Montrose.

Last season they performed well before losing out 3-1 to Falkirk.

But Noble is close to having a fully fit squad for the first time this season.

Selkirk welcome last season's conquerors of Gala, Linlithgow Rose, to Yarrow Park.

Again the Borders side will be labelled underdogs for the first round tie, but Souters boss Garry O'Connor believes his team will be difficult to beat on home soil.

Following his side's 7-4 victory over East Stirlingshire, he said: "We have scored 14 goals in our last two home games so they shouldn't think they can come here and get it easy.

"We know we have defend better but if we can tighten up at the back we have a really good chance of getting through."

Rose have suffered consecutive East Super League defeats over the past fortnight to Kelty and Bo'ness.

But they did reach the fifth round of last year's competition, where they were beaten by Ross County.

Vale of Leithen face the unenviable task of travelling through to unbeaten Lowland League leaders East Kilbride.

But manager Chris Anderson believes his team, who have won their last four, can go through to the K Park full of confidence.

He said: "We have nothing to lose... nobody is expecting us to win.

"With the exception of one match we have played really well this season and East Kilbride shouldn't write us off."

Hawick Royal Albert are also on the road.

Dean Shanks takes his team to the capital to face Civil Service Strollers - having won their opening Lowland League match 5-0 on the same ground.

Albert secretary Dougie Purves said: "We have been doing reasonably well this season but we know we have to work on our defending.

"This is a winnable tie but we can't make any silly mistakes."

All of Saturday's William Hill Scottish Cup first round matches kick off at 3pm.
