GUEST power prevailed on Ladhope Hill at the weekend.

Gala Harriers' annual hill race attracted 27 senior athletes.

Despite a top quality field with the likes of Thomas Otton, Fergus Johnston and Colin Brown amongst the backmarkers, it was the club's guests who proved uncatchable.

Eileen Nichol took up the running front Dana McFarlyne inside the second mile.

But Graham Turnbull from the Galavanters Club quickly made his way to the front, where he stayed all the way to the line with Eileen in his trail.

Graham was one of five Galavanters who took part.

And Lauren Horsburgh also showed up well to finish fourth from her handicap.

Kate Darow was third overall for the host club.

And her team-mate Anya Campbell stormed through the field to finish fifth.

It was a guest who also won the Junior Race.

Fraser Paterson led all the way over the three miles course to hold off the challenge from Ross Christie and Ellie Darlow.

A total of 21 Juniors completed the course.
