LOCAL runners from Gala and Lauder headed to the hills at New Year to complete a run between Tweedbank and Lauder.
Around 50 athletes from the Gala Harriers and Lauderdale Limpers clubs started the run from Tweedbank Sports Centre on January 2, with a number of runners also joining them at various parts of the route.
The run took them across the Southern Upland Way, via Mosshouses and Blue Cairn, with runners choosing to follow a 10 mile or 13 mile route in icy conditions but with cloudless blue skies.
After completing the run, athletes enjoyed hospitality at the Lauderdale Hotel where they were presented with medals by the Lauderdale Limpers to mark the start of the 20 year anniversary celebrations of the club.
The informal event has become a regular fixture on both clubs’ calendars over the years, with the Limpers and the Harriers taking turns to host the run.
