A DEAN McColm hat-trick sealed a superb South Cup extra time win for Hawick Waverley.

Waverley were pitted away to Shotts Thistle but returned to the Borders with a 5-4 win.

McColm’s treble and a Taylor Hope double took Hawick into the quarter finals against a Shotts team containing a number of players who won the South Cup with rivals Shotts Victoria two years ago.

A last minute Grant Wilson goal took Tweeddale Rovers past Carnwath with a 3-2 victory.

A Conor Devaney goal three minutes from time took Greenlaw into the last eight with a 2-1 win over Hawick Legion, while Chirnside United won the all-Division A clash at West Barns Star.

But Gordon lost out 3-2 at home to Lanarkshire team Avendale.

In Division A, Ashley Langford claimed a hat-trick for Jed Legion in a 5-1 win at Tweedmouth Amateurs.

Jacob Hawthorn and Jamie Swailes also found the net for Jed to leave Tweedmouth bottom of the league having played three games more than their relegation rivals.

Newtown’s hopes of claiming the Division B title took a huge blow as basement team Earlston Rhymers grabbed a shock 3-2 win.

A Stevie Kinghorn hat-trick gave Rhymers all three points which lifts them out of the relegation zone. Newtown’s goals came from Andrew Crawford and Darren Blacklock.

It leaves Hawick United as clear favourites for Division B after Ross Scott’s treble saw the Tangerines hammer promotion rivals Coldstream Amateurs 5-1.

A late Graeme Tait goal saved a point for leaders Duns Amateurs at Berwick Colts in Division C, with second placed St Boswells held by CFC Bowholm.

Rick Crew and Steven Drummond gave Ancrum a welcome victory over bottom team Selkirk Victoria, while Kelso Amateurs beat Melrose.
