SCOTLAND captain Greig Laidlaw will miss the rest of the RBS 6 Nations after injuring his ankle on Sunday against France.
The 30-year-old, who has won 58 caps for his country, was instrumental in Scotland's opening match win over Ireland.
But an injury midway through the first half in Paris at the weekend forced him out of the game which Scotland went on to narrowly lose.
A scan has now confirmed the scrum-half sustained ligament damage and he will take no further part in the current championship.
Laidlaw will see a specialist later in the week to determine the best course of management and estimated time out of the sport.
