TWEEDDALE Rovers and Hawick Waverley have both made the last four of the South Cup after impressive wins over Lanarkshire opposition.

Rovers won 4-3 at Larkhall side Machan United, with Grant Wilson scoring two and Craig Collin and Simon Warren also on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Hawick Waverley thumped Springhill 5-0 at Wilton Lodge Park. A double from Jordan Yardley as well as goals from Chris Dunne, Dean McColm and an own goal sealed the win over the Wishaw team.

But Division A leaders Chirnside United were beaten 4-1 at Avendale to crash out of the cup.

In Division A, Stow lost their seventh league game in a row to Gordon to leave them in deep relegation trouble, while West Barns Star hammered Langholm Legion 5-0.

Earlston Rhymers remain in the Division B relegation zone after a 9-1 defeat to rivals Newtown, who saw Matty Scott, Andrew Crawford and Scott Leitch all claim doubles.

Earlston defender Bruce Hunter said: “We were superb when we beat Newtown last month but didn’t turn up on Saturday. But we will bounce back.”

Ross Scott’s hat-trick took Division B leaders Hawick United to a 5-1 win at Kelso Thistle, while Hawick Legion remain in second thanks to Callum Hope’s double in a 3-2 win over Leithen Rovers.

Duncan Kemp scored two for Gala Hotspur but it was not enough as they lost 3-2 at Coldstream Amateurs, and Linton Hotspur and Biggar United drew 4-4.

Division C leaders Duns Amateurs were held to a three-all draw by Hawick Legion Rovers, with second placed St Boswells closing the gap with a 3-0 at home to Melrose.

Third placed Lauder won their fifth game in a row with a 7-0 win over Ancrum, as brothers Jordan, Hagen and Macauley Steele all got on the scoresheet.

And Selkirk Victoria enjoyed only their second win of the season as ex-Stow defender Ryan Pritchard grabbed a hat-trick in a 5-2 win at Kelso Amateurs.

Tweedmouth Amateurs put aside their relegation worries with a 3-2 win over Jed Legion in the Waddell Cup.
