Melrose 35 Gala 7
Atholl Innes at Poynder Park
MELROSE lifted the Booker Border League title on Wednesday night at Poynder Park with a comfortable victory over Gala.
The consistency of 15-a-side games played by the BT Cup holders showed as Melrose scored five tries through Jason Baggott (2), Cameron Mackay, Grant Runciman and Iain Moody in the first half, four converted by Baggott, the other by Craig Jackson, to lead 35-0.
Paul Hendry’s late try for Gala, converted by Gregor Hunter, was the only consolation for the Maroons.
