LAST weekend Gala sent a small but successful squad to compete in the Midlothian Spring Meet.

Laura Frizzel, Sarah Frizzel, Maili Brown, Anna D’Agrosa and Sophie Wilson made the short journey up the A7 to the Mercait Gate Sports Centre at Prestonpans and made it a weekend to remember with some great swimming.

Sophie set the tone with some fantastic swims with some PBs thrown in for good measure.

Anna gained PBs in all her events and collected a Gold, a Silver and three Bronze medals for her efforts.

Maili had two PBs in her swim and walked away with a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze.

Sarah, fresh from her National success a few weeks ago, continued her good run of form with two recorded PBs as well as two Gold and one Silver to add to her ever growing collection.

The start of the team, and not wanting to be outdone by her big sister, was Laura.

Recovering from illness she managed to PB in all but two events and in the process collected a whopping seven Golds and one Silver.

For such a small squad the PB total and medal haul is very impressive and Gala finished second overall in the weekends points table which is a fantastic effort in deed.

In club news Gala ASC appointed Sophie Birkwhistle as the new Club Captain for 2017.

Sophie has been a member for a long number of years and the committee voted unanimously to offer her this position.

The Club would like to wish Sophie every success in her Captaincy and congratulate outgoing 2016 Captain Bethany Hamilton for a very successful year.
