BORDERS para athlete Samantha Kinghorn is a new world record holder.

The 21-year-old from Gordon smashed the best ever T53 200 metres time on Friday in Arazona.

Wheelchair racer Sammi clocked a remarkable  28.67 seconds at the Arizona Grand Prix - taking an incredible 0.26 seconds off Jessica Gail's previous world best time which was set five years ago.

Samantha, who was racing in a new chair for the first time, also won the 100 metres, 400 metres and 1500 metres during a golden weekend in Illinois.

She will spend the rest of this week training in Arizona before racing again on Friday in Indianapolis.

Samantha is preparing for the forthcoming World Para Athletics Championships in London this July.
