IN its inaugural year the Borders Over 35s Mixed Doubles Championships, run through Tennis Borders, was held earlier this month.
Despite only six top couples taking part, the tennis was of premium quality and everyone enjoyed the day even with the changeable weather throughout.
The tournament consisted of two round robins with the winners of each contesting the final.
The final was won by long term partners Lisa Campbell (Peebles) and Johnny Short (Wilton Park and Hawick) 6-0 2-6 11-9 against the very new partnership of Lesley Thomas and Rob Ainsley ( both Kelso).
The third- and fourth-place play off was won by Andrew Plenderleith and Chris Jackson (Duns), who beat Mike and Juliet Smith (Peebles) 6-1 6-1.
The fifth- and sixth-place place final was won by Ian Laidlaw and Alison Moore (Melrose) who beat June Murray (Kelso) and Charles Strang (St Boswells) 7-5 6-3.
