A SUPERB bowling and fielding performance set up Gala/Hawick development team’s second win of the season at Leith FAB.

The youngsters restricted Leith to 64 before knocking off the runs in the 23rd over to complete a five wicket win.

The home side decided to bat first at a sunny Leith Links, but were soon in trouble as Prince was bowled by Alex Hastings.

After a tight opening spell by Harris Rutherford and Hastings, Murray Wilson came into the attack to remove McKenzie with a cracking delivery which was edged through to Max Hastings who held a good catch, before Wilson bowled Ahmad.

The introduction of Brian Johnston to the attack then resulted in a Leith collapse as the veteran picked up four wickets without conceding a single run in three overs.

Jack Gammie and Justin Tait then polished off the Leith tail, with Gammie also taking a couple of great catches.

In reply, Charis Scott (9) and Max Hastings (30) laid the foundation for victory, putting on 48 for the opening wicket.

Both openers departed in quick succession, leading to a mini collapse.

But Andrew Rutherford saw the development team home for second win of the season.
