CRAIG Adams kept alive Kelso’s promotion hopes in a resounding victory over Gala at Shedden Park.

The former Heriots man top scored with 86 in Kelso’s imposing total of 259 for four wickets, before taking five wickets as Gala were bundled out for 75.

Adams and Greg Davidson (72) shared an opening partnership of 140, while Sammy McMahon was 57 not out at the end of Kelso’s innings.

Nick McIntyre had the best figures for Gala with 2 for 61.

In reply, Gala started off steadily, but when Robbie Irvine was dismissed, wickets fell at regular intervals with only Josh Irvine (20) and Jack Halls (17) making double figures as Gala were reduced to 55 for nine.

Only a last wicket stand of 20 with youngster Finlay Rutherford making 14 not out managed to get Gala to 75.

Adams took five for 27 from his ten overs.
