ATOTAL of 13 different clubs were represented last week at the Tennis Borders adult confined tournaments at Melrose Waverley and St Boswells.

Organisers were also encouraged by the number juniors taking part.

The men’s singles semi-finals were particularly hard-fought with one lasting an hour and a half between.

Innerleithen’s Jamie Gordon just lost 8-10 in a deciding match tie breaker.

And Glen Gordon from Melrose also narrowly lost the other.

The final was every bit as close with Hawick's Harris Brogan edging out Andrew Stavert of Melrose 3-6 6-1 10-5.

St Boswells member Francesca Blair won all three events she was entered in - the Women’s Singles, the Women’s Doubles with Rebecca Bruce and the Mixed Doubles with her father Simon.

A spokeswoman for Tennis Borders said: "The committee thanks all entrants who competed so well throughout and also Christine Lawrie, who refereed the whole event and was in charge at Melrose during all five days, and Elspeth Whitelaw who was in charge at St Boswells."
