THE next generation of rugby greats from the Greenyards were in the spotlight over the weekend.
More than 100 young players attended the Junior Rugby Awards following another successful season for the various age-group teams.
Douglas Hardie, president of Melrose RFC, told us: "The event was a huge success and highlighted the value and cooperation between Melrose Rugby and Earlston High School."
During the presentation evening, the club's head coach Rob Chrystie complemented the performance and results achieved by the teams and emphasised the importance of having an effective and vibrant youth section.
Earlston High School PE teacher Nick Alston also praised the club/school ethos.
He said: "The Melrose/Earlston partnership has to be one of the most successful affiliations in the country."
