THE future of Border Amateur football has been thrown into doubt after all current office holders on the current Executive Committee have announced they will stand down.

It is understood the decision has come following a row over the postponed final of the Waddell Cup.

Hawick Waverley, who had won four trophies going into the final on Friday June 1, were due to face Gordon.

But an estimated 90 per cent of the Berwickshire village side were due to attend a wedding on the same Friday evening and requested the final be played 24 hours earlier.

The request for a change was turned down by the Border Amateur FA leading to a lot of public criticism.

This week Border Amateur FA secretary Colin Campbell announced this week that all office holders would be standing down at the forthcoming AGM.

He stated: "In light of various events over the last season where members and decisions of the elected Executive Committee of the Border Amateur FA have been challenged and publicly criticised, the Executive Committee has taken the unanimous decision not to stand for re-election at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting."

An invitation has been made for nominations to fill the vacant positions ahead of the AGM in Galashiels.

Mr Campbell added: "If no nominations are forthcoming, the AGM will be brought to a close and the member clubs will have the opportunity to discuss their options."
