THE Gala/Hawick Development team were well beaten by Drummond Trinity 3rds at a sun-kissed Meigle Park.

The Edinburgh visitors notched 187 for 5 from their 40 overs and followed it up with a disciplined bowling performance which left Gala/Hawick 82 runs adrift.

Drummond Trinity chose to bat first on another great wicket and quick outfield, with Steve Coulson (47) and Chirnanjeevi Pennamaru (50) putting on 75 for the first wicket before Ross Patterson caught and bowled the latter batsman.

Colin Jennings (36) kept the boundaries coming but Gala/Hawick showed plenty resilience in hot conditions, with Caitlin Ormiston rewarded for a good bowling performance with two wickets.

Jack Gammie then bowled well at the death to claim two for himself including a great delivery to dismiss captain Coulson.

Patterson smashed a four off the first ball of the innings for the homesters but they never really got going after that.

Patterson top scored with 32 while youngster Matt Reid (11) and Joey Sax-Simpson (13) also had useful knocks as Gala/Hawick finished on 105 for 8.

Pennamaru took 3 for 18 as the pick of the Drummond Trinity bowlers.
