SELKIRK FC have issued an SOS following Saturday's forced postponement of their game with Edusport Academy.

The struggling Yarrow Park club, who finished fifth in the Lowland League last Saturday, were hammered in their opening two games of the season.

And theywere unable to fulfil Saturday's fixture with Edusport Academy.

But the club has been buoyed by support from around the football community since their on- and off- the- field problems emerged at the recent AGM.

Considerable debt as well as a lack of players had left the club on the brink of folding just last week.

But the arrival of Gordon Rae as temporary manager and offers of help from rival clubs as well as local businesses has lifted some of the cloud.

Selkirk currently have six signed players and are awaiting international clearance on a further two.

They also have several loan deals being completed ahead of Wednesday's fixture with Civil Service Strollers.

And tonight (Monday) it is hoped that an open training session at Yarrow Park will help attract enough players to bulk up Rae's squad.

Chairman Jaydee Sharkey told us: "We are grateful to the understanding and support from the Lowland League at this extremely difficult time.

"People are rallying round to help and we will always be grateful.

"Our main priority right now is to have a competitive team on the park and that is why Gordon is holding the open training session - we know of a few players who are coming but we'd encourage anyone looking for a club to come along."

Tonight's open training session at Yarrow Park starts at 7.15pm - all players will be made welcome.
