ORGANISERS have unveiled the packed programme of events for this year's TweedLove Festival - and it's the biggest and best yet.

The celebration of two wheels attracts riders and spectators from all over the world to the Tweed Valley.

With events starting in just a few weeks’ time, this year’s TweedLove Festival looks set to be the busiest to date.

With over 30 events planned for the season, and the big festival weekend hosted at Tweed Green over the weekend of June 8 to 10, the Tweed Valley will welcome thousands of bike fans to its famous trails, roads and tracks.

The event village will feature over 30 bike, component, and clothing brands, as well as having its own festival food stands and craft beer bar.

Two major new features include a free outdoor cinema evening on the Saturday (June 9), and a bike bus-stop at Tweed Green, offering bikes and riders uplift to the top of the trails at Innerleithen and Glentress.

The British Mountain Bike Enduro Championship race will be the pinnacle event of the TweedLove Festival weekend, with the country’s top professional riders battling it out on the local trails.

And there’s also a big programme of events for other kinds of cycling too.

Event director Neil Dalgliesh told us: "TweedLove has always been a festival for taking part – not just spectating - and over the years we’ve attracted tens of thousands of riders to come here and enjoy the UK’s best bike trails and routes.

"Every year we try to make improvements and bring new visitors, and new bike industry businesses, to enjoy riding bikes in the valley - we can’t wait to welcome everyone.

"It’s fabulous having such a friendly festival atmosphere right in the middle of Peebles.”

Alongside the big mountain bike race, the festival weekend also offers events for road bikes, gravel bikes, children, families and there will be plenty for non-riders and spectators as well.

A major attraction will be the TweedLove Mega Bike Demo – an all-weekend chance to try over 200 different mountain, road, gravel, and electric bikes, with some of the worlds’ best bikes – some worth up to £7,500.

Events across the weekend include the multimedia and movie night on Thursday, June 7, the Lovecross race on the Friday (June 8), the GO-Ebike Family Ride, Cycle Law Scotland Skinny Tweed, and new Gritopia gravel event, all happening on the Saturday (June 9).

On the Sunday, the focus is all on the Whyte British MTB Enduro Championship race with local professional mountain bike stars Katy Winton, Lewis Buchanan, and Ruaridh Cuningham tipped for places on the UK enduro champions’ podiums.

Leading up to the festival weekend the Tweed Valley will see riders coming from far and wide to take part in the Odlo Glentress 7 (May 26) and the G-Form Enjoyro (June 2), and trail runners arriving to take part in the Glentress 11 trail run taking place on May 25.

This year’s hugely popular Family Day – the biggest children’s cycling event in the UK - is happening in Victoria Park, Peebles on May 27.
