SELKIRK maintained their unbeaten record on Saturday but were left kicking themselves after allowing 10-man Broomhill to salvage a point.

The Maryhill club had been rocked on the eve of the game by the resignation of manager Ian King.

But they still caused Selkirk some early problems and deserved their Ciaran Johnston goal after the half hour.

Garry O’Connor had twice gone close for the visitors and Ross Gray also fired agonisingly close for Steve Forrest’s team.

Selkirk continued to press and they were rewarded with an O’Connor goal approaching the hour.

Just two minutes later the former Scotland star slotted home a penalty.

Broomhill were reduced to 10 men for the challenge inside the area.

But they still bounced back with David Gray scoring the equaliser with quarter of an hour to go.

Despite a few late chances Selkirk had to settle for the point.

Manager Steve Forrest said: “When we went in front I could only see one winner but we allowed them in and were punished.

“We did more than enough to win the game.” Selkirk: J Newman, M Christie, M Samson (G Hay 61), J Harley, S Ritchie, C Handren, R Gray, F Moulet (J Hay 68), G O’Connor, J McInally (K Reynolds 80) & P Addison.
